"Penance." He lets the cup go, gaze settling on Xichen again. "You should have let me go." It's quiet, his hands settling in his lap while Xichen holds him up.
"The most of what, exactly? Waiting for the rest of the sects to come howling for my blood like they did with Wei Wuxian when he was the one everyone hated? Because I'm not sure that's something I want to make the most of, Er Ge."
He's quiet for a moment. "You could have left me there with Da Ge. Nobody would have blamed you for walking away."
